Linda Monsees
Linda Monsees is a researcher of international politics interested in digital security and the impact of technologised practices on democracy. She joined ENS in September 2020. Before that she worked as a Post-doctoral researcher at Queen Mary University of London leading a project on “Cyberspace and the changing configuration of security”. Prior to that she held positions at Goethe University Frankfurt and the Center for Advanced Internet Studies, Bochum. She received her PhD in 2017 from the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences, with a thesis on the politics of digital encryption. The thesis has evolved into a book manuscript and has been published with Routledge, as part of their New Security Series, under the title ‘Crypto-Politics: Encryption and Democratic Practices in the Digital Era’ (2020). Her research on ‘fake news’ and its impact on democracy has been published in Critical Studies on Security.
